Last night: Philip was the only bed invader last night but when Maddy woke me up this morning, I couldn’t open my eyes. I talked her through getting breakfast from my bed then asked her if she would like to pack her lunch. She said sure and came back in with her lunch box 10 minutes later. I looked in and it had some chips, a waffle, and some smarties. I asked her if she wanted a waffle instead of sandwich and she said yes. I convinced her to add some fruit and cheese and her water bottle and she left to school on time with the lunch of champions. She had a spelling test today so last night I got to call her words out and use them in a sentence. Fun way to make spelling test studying for the parents is when you have to say it in a sentence, use song lyrics. Twice…”once bitten twice shy babe”…twice. Night….”strangers in the night, exchanging glances lovers at first sight” night. Very confusing for her but fun for me. I got the two others off to school and headed to work. Dealt with problems at work for four hours then back to pick up. When I picked them up I noticed strangely that Philip was the only one in his classroom. Apparently today was graduation for Philip and they had a big thing and sang songs and wore a cap and gown and such. I missed that memo as it was not on my itinerary for the week. I’m not a horrible parent (I don’t think) I really had no idea that he was graduating. Luckily I wasn’t the only one who missed it, there was one parent stuck in the elevator at preschool so the fire department had to extract her. Her excuse was much better than mine. I did find out that Philip told his teacher that daddy sure has yelled a lot this week. I don’t remember yelling that much but the fact that sometimes I have felt like they are trying to rip me apart limb by limb and I don’t know if I’m going to be smothered with a pillow while I sleep maybe an indicator. Kids are very hard to please. They have not only the bladder of a 90 year old but also the short term memory. I can literally give them candy, sodas and movies all day but when you say it’s bed time it all of the sudden is the worst day ever. We are outside dance right now for our last evening event of the week! I did tell them that when we get home we have to clean the house for mommy. Which means I will clean the house and they will get distracted by the toys they find in the room like the dog from Up. I did make lily go potty before we left the house which was an argument but she has freaked out and started screaming yet about having to go. The argument was worth it. Now she is just crying that she is hungry while she watches Rio in the car. She gets distracted by the singing scenes and then remembers that she is hungry when they stop. It’s awesome. Keri is on her way back and we are meeting her tomorrow, so I also have to pack the kids stuff tonight. An important realization I had on the way to dance tonight is, if someone cuts you off driving it is probably because they are distracted by when they have to get their kids, where they are and what do they have to do before the get them and when you accidentally cut someone off and they flip you the bird and swerve around you it is probably because they are about ready to snap because their kids have been screaming about going to the potty. Yup, you heard it here, “kids are the reason for road rage”. If you don’t have kids and have road rage or cut people off you have no excuse and you should be ashamed at yourself.
